The Gledhow Wing of St. James’s Hospital, which contains the majority of its pregnancy facilities, including the birth room, has advised people to stay away from its entrance.
A 27-year-old male was reportedly detained at the location, which is about a mile from the heart of Leeds, according to West Yorkshire Police.
By the police: Early this morning, emergency personnel were summoned to a possible suspicious package outside the Gledhow Wing of Leeds’ St. James’ Hospital on Beckett Street.
Army specialists are present to conduct a routine evaluation, and a cordon has been established as a safeguard for the safety of the general people.
People are urged to stay away from the Gledhow Wing entrance while the cordon is still in place.
We have all been transferred out of our quarters and into the staff rooms, a patient on the respiratory ward told the Yorkshire Post.
Some individuals have been relocated from the area as a safety measure, the police statement stated.
Patients are asked to keep all scheduled outpatient visits at St. James’s Emergency Department unless otherwise informed.
The police relocated many wards, and a perimeter would remain in place, according to the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Patients are urged to show up for appointments at the hospital as usual unless otherwise notified, it stated.
Till we get further information, visiting is suspended for patients who are now housed in the Gledhow Wing and the Lincoln Wing at St. James’ Hospital.
