Software developer Ian Kirwan, who was stabbed in the chest following an altercation at an Asda in Redditch, was killed by a 15-year-old who has been found guilty.
On March 8, 2013, the teenager, who was 14 at the time, confronted Mr. Kirwan, 53, for playing around in the store restrooms and stabbed him in the heart.
The Birmingham-born assailant attacked Mr. Kirwan for one minute near the Asda shop entrance after taking a train to the Worcestershire town with a group of male companions.
The young man participated in a group of masked individuals who terrorized Redditch residents.
A fifth child, who was 16 years old, was exonerated of charges of murder, manslaughter, and violent disorder when he insisted he was not there during the fatal altercation and could not have foreseen it.
Mr. Kirwan, an artificial intelligence engineer employed by Jaguar Land Rover in Coventry, was described as a unlucky member of the public at the wrong place at the wrong time, during a ten-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
On February 15th, the same court will sentence everyone who has been found guilty.
